POBCO Guide Rails, Chain Guides and Linear
Supports are normally made from white ULTRA-D® (UHMWPE), PLUS® (fluid lube-filled grey UHMWPE), and
POBCO-B® Lube-Filled
Hardwood. Many come complete with Stainless Steel, Steel, or Aluminum
Supports.
These products are also
available in Static-Reduced black Ultra-D, UV
Stabilized black or natural Ultra-D, Acetal
(Delrin®) for applications requiring a rigid plastic or in contact with a
steam cleaning environment and Filled Teflons for high
temperature (500°F±) applications.
POBCO
anti-friction plastic profiles are available with 1/4" or 3/8" diameter 304
stainless steel and carbon steel rod
encapsulated in the plastic, or are slid over 3/8" stainless steel or carbon
steel rod. A MAJOR ADVANTAGE of the slid-fit plastic assembly
is that the rod can be reused when the plastic is replaced. This is a
MAJOR MONEY SAVER.
The larger guides do not
always require the added stiffness and strength rendered by the stainless steel
or steel rods. Solid Plastic or Lube-Filled
Hardwood may be preferred. Stainless Steel or Steel guide rail connectors are
used to hold guide rail ends together and for providing metal
bottoms for welding purposes. Other rigid bottoms are
available.
The advantage of the
special POBCO-B HARDWOOD over most bearing-grade
plastics is that it affords a MORE RIGID, DIMENSIONALLY STABLE material coupled
with a material which is 100% LUBRICANT-FILLED to
render a lower coefficient of friction and LONGER LIFE. Plastics sometimes lose
their capacity to stay dimensionally stable under changes in temperature. The
larger profile plastic shapes may also loose their capacity to stay straight
along a linear path due to the lack of rigidity inherent in many plastics.
Therefore for CHAIN and CABLE GUIDES and similar applications
POBCO-B HARDWOOD should be seriously
considered.
These Guide Rails can be
affixed to Conveyor or linear supports by using the clips and connectors shown
or they can be drilled and tapped to accommodate threaded bolts such as the
1/4" - 20 thread.
All POBCO
Guide Profiles equipped with stainless steel & carbon steel or metal rod
cores are protected under PATENT No. 4,932,517.
As described in the
Preferred Embodiment section of the POBCO Patent: "It is obvious that
minor changes may be made in the form and construction of the invention without
departing from the material spirit thereof." "It is not, however, desired to
confine the invention to the exact form herein shown and described, but it is
desired to include all such as properly come within the scope
claimed." |
